Paul, aSilvanus, and Timothy,

To the church of the bThessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

cGrace to you and peace.

1Thess 1:2
eWe give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly
Or without ceasing
gmentioning you in our prayers,
We always thank God for all of you and continually mention you in our prayers.
1Thess 1:3
remembering before hour God and Father iyour work of faith and labor of jlove and ksteadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labour prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.

1Thess 1:4
For we know, lbrothers
Or  brothers and sisters. The plural Greek word adelphoi (translated “brothers”) refers to siblings in a family. In New Testament usage, depending on the context, adelphoi may refer either to men or to both men and women who are siblings (brothers and sisters) in God’s family, the church
loved by God, nthat he has chosen you,
For we know, brothers and sisters
The Greek word for brothers and sisters (adelphoi) refers here to believers, both men and women, as part of God’s family; also in 2:1, 9, 14, 17; 3:7; 4:1, 10, 13; 5:1, 4, 12, 14, 25, 27.
loved by God, that he has chosen you,
1Thess 1:5
because pour gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and qin the Holy Spirit and with full rconviction. You know swhat kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.
because our gospel came to you not simply with words but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake.
1Thess 1:6
And tyou became imitators of us uand of the Lord, for vyou received the word in much affliction, wwith the xjoy of the Holy Spirit,
You became imitators of us and of the Lord, for you welcomed the message in the midst of severe suffering with the joy given by the Holy Spirit.
1Thess 1:7
so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.
And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia.
1Thess 1:8
For not only has the word of the Lord ysounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone forth zeverywhere, so that we need not say anything.
The Lord’s message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia – your faith in God has become known everywhere. Therefore we do not need to say anything about it,
1Thess 1:9
For they themselves report concerning us the kind of aareception we had among you, and how abyou turned to God acfrom idols to serve the living and adtrue God,
for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God,
1Thess 1:10
and aeto wait for his Son affrom heaven, agwhom he raised from the dead, Jesus ahwho delivers us from aithe wrath to come.

and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead – Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.
